INTERWAR EUROPE
in vintage style
Europe after the Treaty of Versailles
(early 1920s)
This map of interwar Europe shows the countries that existed (or aspired to exist) with their claimed borders.
Sakartvelo, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine and Belarus existed only briefly, some for less than a few months. Still, the aspirations those nations showed after the First World war are resonant today - all of them are sovereign states, albeit some of them are dependent on Russia (Belarus) and some are still fighting for their freedom (Ukraine).
Lithuania's border, defined by international treaties, was never truly established with Vilnius area being annexed to Poland. Together with Greece losing its Anatolian lands to Turkey in the early 1920s the borders of interwar Europe were established and remained more or less constant until 1938.
